What z2play is

z2play is a web app for grassroots and amateur sport. One person at the match — a coach, a parent, a team-mate on the bench — narrates what is happening out loud. Speech recognition and a language model turn that narration into a running commentary feed and keep the score. Everyone else opens one link and follows the match live in a browser, with nothing to install and no account required.

It is built for the matches nobody broadcasts: a J14 handball game in a school hall, a Sunday-morning football match on a gravel pitch, a club tennis final. The people who care most about those matches are usually the ones who cannot be there.

Who runs it

z2play is built and operated by Finde AS, a Norwegian software company. Vidar Fineide leads development; Morten Hansen-Østli, who has coached youth football and tennis for a decade and chairs Lommedalen Tennisklubb, works on the business side. You can reach us at post@finde.no.

The first version of z2play has been used by grassroots teams since 2018 — 2,461 matches tracked by 1,423 registered users, mostly football clubs in Norway, the Netherlands and Brazil. The version you see now is a full rebuild around voice-driven commentary.

Sport, safety and children

Most of the people in a grassroots match are children. That shapes the product: match pages published for search show team names, the score and the type of each event only — never the raw commentary, never a player's name, never a photograph. Photos uploaded inside a match have their EXIF metadata stripped and are stored privately behind non-guessable URLs. We treat this as a condition of building the product at all, not as a feature.

Not the other z2play

Two unrelated companies share our name, which causes genuine confusion in search results and in AI-generated answers. To be explicit:

If you arrived here looking for one of those, this is not the site you want. If you are looking for a free way to carry a grassroots match live to the people who cannot be in the hall, it is.
